TRADEL research

Research on the road

Some travel problems only show up once a trip starts moving. A tent is useful for three weeks and awkward after that. A seat exists, but not on the day you need it. We use these small projects to see where the normal options work well and where timing or location still gets in the way.

Why are we doing this?

Why research these travel problems at all?

Because the problem is often not that something does not exist. The gear, seat, service or person may already be there, just in the wrong place, at the wrong time or hidden in another group. We want to understand where that actually gets in the way of a trip.

What are we trying to improve?

We want useful overlaps to become visible earlier. That could mean finding gear before you arrive, passing it on before you leave, or seeing that another traveller has the right route, timing or spare capacity before both of you make other plans.

What could travellers actually get from this?

Less stuff carried from home, fewer unnecessary purchases or rentals, less dead weight after one part of a trip, and less jumping between separate posts, chats and groups. Ideally, planning before arrival becomes easier too.

What if Facebook groups, rentals or hostels already solve it?

Then that is a good answer. We are not trying to replace things that already work. We care about the awkward leftover cases where timing, route or availability is hard to see and two useful sides still miss each other.
