COSTA RICA INDEPENDENT LOCAL BUSINESSES

Be findable when you’re needed.

A guide, a place to stay, a bicycle repair along the way. The most useful local business may be the one a traveller has not heard of yet.

TRADEL gives tourism networks an additional way to present independent providers through their individual profiles and concrete offers.

01 WHEN IT MATTERS

Travel rarely follows a directory.

Needs arise mid-journey. A specific, findable offer gives a small business a chance to be considered in that moment — whether or not it has a large marketing budget.

01 / REPAIR

A bicycle needs fixing on the Caribbean coast.

A local workshop with a specific repair offer could be easier to discover.

02 / STAY

Tomorrow’s stop needs a place to sleep.

A small independently run stay should be able to explain what it offers.

03 / EXPERIENCE

The right local guide is needed for a morning trip.

One concrete activity can be shown separately from the operator’s profile.

These are illustrative situations, not claims about businesses currently listed on TRADEL.

02 THE WORKSPACE

One network behind the scenes. Each business up front.

TRADEL is not a replacement for an association, directory, website or booking system. It adds a way for independent providers to present their own concrete offers while an organization helps manage them.

  1. 01

    Bring your network

An organization workspace can manage several providers from one account.

  2. 02

    Keep each identity

Every guide, stay or service has its own Provider Profile and separate offers.

  3. 03

    Hand over later

A provider can claim its profile; the organization can remain a manager.

Costa Rica already has rural and community tourism organizations and support programmes. TRADEL is independent of them and does not claim a partnership. See the Costa Rican Tourism Board’s tourism-development overview for public-sector context.

04 START SMALL

Start with the businesses you already know.

A network does not need to rebuild its directory. A small voluntary pilot with five to ten businesses can be enough to test whether this additional discovery channel is useful.
